Rental cars
Want a car for beach days and day trips? These companies allow dogs. Most ask you to crate your dog and charge for extra cleaning, so bring a seat cover.
Turo Car sharing
Filter your search for cars marked "pet friendly", or get the host's written OK in Turo messaging first. Dogs must ride in a crate or carrier. Lots of pet hair means a cleaning fee. Their pet policy
Enterprise Rental car
Dogs are allowed at US locations. Keep them crated, and return the car free of pet hair to avoid a cleaning fee. Sister brands National and Alamo have the same rule. Their pet policy
Hertz Rental car
Dogs are allowed and don't need to be added to the booking. Bring your own pet seatbelt or carrier. You only pay extra for damage or special cleaning, like lots of pet hair. Their pet policy
Also allow dogs: National, Alamo, Avis, Budget. Each link opens that company's pet policy.
â Each policy read on the company's own site, Nov 2026. Rules can differ by location, so mention your dog when you book.
Too hot to walk?
On hot days, keep walks short and take a ride for the long stretches. See heat warning signs on our Watch-Outs page.
Before you ride
Policies can change, so mention your dog when you call or book.
